How to Make a Viral Video with YouTube Case Study

  May 27th, 2008

You want to know how to use YouTube to catapult your brand? Watch how Weezer does it. They released their most recent video (on YouTube, of course). The entire video alludes to 24 of the most famous YouTube viral videos, with cameos by many of the viral video stars. The views? 3.3 million and counting.

And with so many allusions, you will find yourself watching it multiple times to see if you can catch them all in a type of Where's Waldo Gone Wild. We found several not listed -- the sunglass catch and Rainbow Sock Blond. I'm not even sure what the lyrics have to do with YouTube or viral marketing other than "be yourself, have fun doing it, and post it on YouTube".

This surpasses that of a recent South Park episode (Season 12, Episode 1204 Canada on Strike). In the episode, the viral video characters set off in a who-is-most-famous duel.

Viral Video Victory

A record has been made. It is viral video victories like these that makes us want to say ... it's peanut butter jelly time.
