SHERPA strongly believes in supporting the Atlanta community. If you are looking to build future leaders and spread technology education, we want to support you.
But it is selfish of us. The way we see it, we get nearly all of it back.
And we aren't alone. Nationally, Americans gave $295B in 2006 according to Fast Company. That makes the US first in the world in giving as a percentage of GDP (1.7%). The next closest is Britain at .73%. You rock, America.
And what is more amazing is that it isn't the uber-rich who are giving to charity. 65% of households with annual incomes less than $100k gave to charity. Granted, $100k/year is the top 10% of families, but that is still fantastic that so many households make room in their budgets to support charities. In fact, 75.6% of gifts came from individuals. You rock, American families.
So back to Atlanta. The Techbridge Digital Ball garnered over $1M for Atlanta's non-profits such as Med Share. You rock, Atlanta.
