SEO snake oil salesman

Trying to persuade someone of the benefits of SEM is like trying to have a "you need a website" conversation. At this point in the game, the benefits of SEM are rather clear. If the prospect doesn't get it, point them to an article online and/or move on.

What a prospective company needs is someone with experience and knowledge about the complexities of SEO -- not some guy trying to sell them on some secret SEO sauce. Because the facts are that those of us in the SEO industry know the secrets and share them often. The are commonplace knowledge for us. And now we will share that secret with you.

There is no secret. Yes, that is the secret.

Superior SEO is a combination of experience, time, and research. That's it. Anyone can do it -- as long as they have experience, time, and research.

This SEO snake oil salesman does not have any of those qualities.

This guy below doesn't either.

Next time a salesman tries to sell you on search engine marketing, simply ask to speak with the person that will be working on the account. Bypass the middleman immediately. Salesmanship is respectable skill, but not when words like "guarantee" and "secret" are used. That is not sales -- that is lying.

You've heard the advertising phrase, "I liked it so much that I bought the company?"

I did almost the same thing. Let me explain...

For several years I have been a minor guru in the Internet Marketing world, teaching people how to generate traffic and profits online. I spoke at some conferences, created some products, etc.
